My Clinical Approach

Honesty, Mindfulness, Compassion

My Clinical Approach

The core of my clinical practice is grounded in insight-oriented depth psychology, which encourages clients to better understand themselves as they navigate through a variety of life’s challenges, both at home and abroad.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, helping them address their concerns fully and authentically. In this, it is always essential to help clients recognize and utilize the strengths they bring to each and every situation. My work is positive and solution-focused.

“There is a cry deeper than all sound, whose serrated edges cut the heart as we break open,

to the place inside, which is unbreakable and whole, while learning to sing.” – Rashani

Collaborative Short and Long-Term Therapy

Over the years, I have done considerable short-term therapy with clients in crisis, but my general practice is to establish more long-term, cooperative relationships in support of recovery from depression, anxiety, trauma, and addictions. By creating a mutually respectful and caring rapport and by drawing on the meaningfulness of a strong interpersonal bond, my clients and I are able to collaboratively explore issues, establish meaningful goals, and reach satisfying outcomes.

Where We Meet

The Covid Pandemic has permanently changed many things for all of us, necessitating social distance and a much greater reliance on electronic communications. The silver lining of these cultural changes has been that our technologies have proved to be surprisingly effective as well as convenient. My clients and I have been pleased with the changeover to Skype Sessions, which allow us to not only maintain continuity in our work together but also offer us the ease and comfort of being able to work from our homes or wherever we are in the world.

Despite this “change for a new age”, as I refer to it, I continue my traditional approach. Therapy will always be a deeply personal experience. I feel it is important for my clients to know that I treat people rather than pathologies and that I try to bring to my work the same values that have guided my own life – honesty, mindfulness, compassion.
